Amazing wild life spectacle: the great Wildebeest migration. The great migration must be one of the greatest wildlife spectacles on the planet. More than 1 million Wildebeest and some 250,000 Zebra were intent on crossing the Mara River to reach better grazing in the northern Serengeti, Tanzania. It had been raining in the Serengeti and so the drive to cross this dangerous river was building day by day. Once one Wildebeest decided to take that first jump then many more follow immediately creating a scene of pure chaos. It is a dangerous crossing! Some will succumb to attacks by the many large crocodiles waiting in anticipation of the crossing. You can see my film of Crocodile attacks during a crossing at:https://wildlifeaction.co.uk/trips/crocodiles-kill-wildebeest-in-the-mara-river/. Many more animals get washed away and drown whilst others break limbs as they leap into the river and scramble to get out the other side. Down stream, the corpses of the unlucky few provide sustenance for a wide range of other creatures.
