Playful Lion cubs in the rain. It had been a particularly dry time in the Maasai Mara and the rains were eagerly awaited by both the animals and us. Rain makes for good and different filming possibilities. We were delighted when we found some of the Lions of the Enkoyanai pride in the pouring rain. We had come across two of the females (mum and sister) and four tiny cubs just three months old. First the cubs were playing with each other, then with mum and then, in this film, with their auntie. The one event I was hoping for: a shake of a rain sodden head, happened! The size difference between the cubs and the adult Lion was very notable. It had been a lovely encounter that had lasted for about one hour. Nothing could be better than watching playful Lion cubs in the rain.
