White Rhinos at the river. As the sun was beginning to set in Lewa Conservancy, North Kenya, we spotted two male white rhinos heading down to the river to drink. We set off to meet them at the river. This required us to pick our way down some steep and rocky tracks so when we arrived at the river the rhinos were already there and drinking. Rhinos will drink at least once a day, twice if they are able. The larger male had a very nice wallow in the cool and muddy water before they both set off back up the hill. As the sun was setting it was time for our gin and tonics!
The two subadult males were of different ages and are likely to stay together until they reach sexual maturity. Then it will be time to find a territory of their own.
