Leaping Coquerel’s Sifaka: a very attractive lemur. There was a healthy population of Cockerel’s Sifaka at Anjajavy, Madagascar. These are delightful lemurs. Most commonly they live in groups of 4-5 individuals comprising a single family unit. They fee predominantly in the forest canopy and are adept arboreal animas. It was common to see them leaping and bouncing around in the canopy. Great fun to see their arboreal antics.
It is great shame that these iconic animals are threatened by human activity. Their rarity and uniqueness makes them worth protecting.
