A pride of lions on a rocky outcrop. In the nice morning light, we found this pride of lions moving across the open plain. It looked like they were about to cross a small valley so we positioned our vehicle on the far side to get views of them crossing the valley and coming up the hillside towards us. However, rather than cross the valley, the lions emerged onto a rocky outcrop on the far side of the valley and lapped up the warming rays of the morning sun. This made for an unusual sighting. Watching a pride of lions on a rocky othe crop as they played and interacted with each was lovely. The setting with trees on the horizon and lush green vegetation contrasting with the dark rocks was wonderful. After a while the lions got up and wandered off in the direction they had arrived at the rocks. Kenya’s Maasai Mara often throws up surprises like this!
