Bison approaching. Overnight in Yellowstone National Park, USA it had been extremely cold and there had been a lot of snow. This made the Park into a winter wonderland: snow covered trees and snowy Bison and total silence. We came across this small herd led by a huge bull as it walked towards us. Very impressive animals looking marvellous covered in snow and kicking up snow as they slowly approached us. At a respectful distance we returned to our vehicle. Bison approaching at a leisurely pace and filming low down creates a stunning image of these majestic animals.
Male Bison are significantly larger and heavier than females. The bulls at the withers can reach 200cm and they can weigh up to 790 kg. Huge and impressive animals highly adapted to this extreme environment.
