Dancing Verreaux’s Sifakas. As the morning began to get heat in Berenty Private Reserve, Madagascar, a group of Verreaux’s Sifaka moved from a more open spot in the trees to the more dense galleried forest a short distance away. This involved them crossing an open forest track and grassy area. This provide great views of their unusual gait: a sideways skipping motion that is very enjoyable to watch. One of the lemurs had a very young baby on its back.
Verreaux’s Sifakas are rather small Sifakas,up to 48cm tall with a tail up to 60cm long. They weigh just 3.5kg. They tend to live in small groups of 4-8 animals.
