Watching a herd of India’s largest bovine is an impressive experience.

Weighing in at up to 1000kg and standing up to 2.2m at the shoulder, these are big animals! Tigers will take Gaur bulls opportunistically which attests to the power of the tiger.

Their size and shape coupled with their strikingly white stockings can make them seem almost comical. They make quite a noise as they move gently through the jungle. They are often found in small herds of 5-10 animals although older bulls can be solitary. One of the two young bulls in the film emits a deep bellow which sounds almost primeval.
