Greater Coucal with a Speckle-headed Vine Snake. It was raining in Tanjung Puting National Park (Indonesian Borneo) as we sailed along the Sekonyer River. A flash of colour across the river – a Greater Coucal. It landed in a tree on the river bank and we could see that it had caught a snake – a Speckle-headed Vine Snake. Above the noise of the rain we could just hear the Greater Coucal’s booming call! We could also just about hear another Greater Coucal calling from the opposite river bank. We were then able to see across the river was it’s fledgling.
