Grizzly Bear and cub at the scratching tree – Nakina River, Canada 2022

Grizzly Bear and cub at the scratching tree. This female Grizzly Bear and her cub were frequent visitors to the scratching tree; a tree which is regularly visited by several bears as can be seen by the staining on the trunk. It was a comical scene to behold but clearly serves a very important role for the bears. The lodge on the Nakina River, British Columbia, Canada is ideally placed to get up close and personal with the Grizzly Bears. The river and its valley are both beautiful and delightfully remote. A true wilderness experience. The bears were very active in the river as they gorged on salmon in preparation for their period of hibernation. A special place.
