Hyena den with hyenas and their very young pups. Close to Kicheche Valley Camp, Naboisho Conservancy in the Maasai Mara we stumbled upon this hyena den hidden in thick bushes. As we watched, very young hyena pups came out to play. Such fun watching them frolicking around and interacting with the adults. Always a delight to watch very young pups at the hyena den as they play. Often hyenas are seen as the villains of the bush but they play such a pivotal role in cleaning up after predators. They do, of course, hunt as well.
