Hyenas and vultures tussle over a buffalo carcass. In the distance, in Kenya’s Maasai Mara, we could see lots of vultures and we assumed they must be on a carcass. As we got closer we could see they were feasting on a Buffalo carcass. It was also clear that Hyenas were heading in that direction, too. It was great fun to watch the Hyenas chase away the vultures and as they took to the air there was much screeching and the flapping of large wings. As soon as the Hyenas moved away, back would come the vultures only to be chased away once more. Superbly entertaining to watch as hyenas and vultures tussle over a buffalo carcass. And the odd jackal would join in as well.
