Leopard and her cub in a tree. In the Mara North Conservancy of Kenya’s Maasai Mara, we had been watching a leopard and her cub deep in the undergrowth. They were very hard to see. As the heat of the day built we decided to leave them and return in the evening. This plan worked as we found the female leopard high in a tree and barely visible. Her cub was nowhere to be seen. So we settled and watch proceedings hoping that both would make an appearance. To our delight, the cub appeared at the base of the tree and slowly climbed up to join its mother high in the tree. After a short while they both came down the tree and headed off to hunt as the light was fading. Our plan was to try and locate them the following morning. It is always worth waiting to see a Leopard and her cub in a tree. The ease with which these amazing big cats can move around in trees is most impressive.
