Leopard and her young male cub climb a tree to feast on an Impala carcass – Maasai Mara, Kenya 2025

Leopard and her young male cub climb a tree to feast on an Impala carcass. The thunderstorm with heavy rain had been a feature of this game drive in the Naboisho Conservancy in Kenya’s Maasai Mara. The Impala carcass in the tree had been there for some time and had been put there by a female leopard known as Sankuet. We knew, therefore, that she would be nearby hopefully with her six month old male cub. So we waited by the tree in the rain hoping she would show up. It wasn’t long before she arrived closely followed by her cub. As the thunder rumbled around us they both climbed the tree and began to eat. Watching a Leopard and her young cub climb a tree to feast on an Impala carcass is always a safari treat. The power and agility on display was impressive. These big cats climb trees with ease!
