Lion cubs join one of their pride’s females in Kenya’s Maasai Mara. We had headed off early in the morning in search of the breakaway Ilkisiausiau pride which had 40+ members. We first found a pile of five cubs in gorgeous light. Four of the cubs were five and a half months old and the fifth, which was slightly larger, was six months old. They were obviously watching for the return of their mother(s). A lactating female emerged from the bushes and the cubs dashed to meet her. After a few greetings and some play they moved off.
