Lion pride heads for a drink. We had been watching this pride of lions in the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, near to Ndutu Safari Lodge, Tanzania for a few days. They were not in good shape. There was little prey for them and they were all very thin. The cubs in particular looked very poor. In fact, we had not seen one of the cubs at all and we thought two more cubs would not survive the night. All of the cubs lacked energy and had shown no sign of playing. So imagine our delight when we found the pride intact the following day including the cub we had not seen. All present and correct! They had obviously had some food the night before. Although still very thin the cubs had enough energy to run about whilst the pride lionesses kept a watchful eye on them. One of the pride males was following the females and cubs but some distance back. They were clearly heading for the swamp and an early morning drink. After having their fill of water they headed off into the shade and would rest up for the day. Watching as this Lion pride heads for a drink had been special given the parlous nature of the pride.
