Noisy and angry interaction between two male lions. The lion population is huge in the Naboisho Conservancy of Kenya’s Maasai Mara. In the early morning light we found these two males: father and son. The father was trying to impress on his son the need to leave the pride and go his own way. The son was clearly submissive to his father snarling when his father came close. The father began to roar and another lion some distance way replied with the same. Quite a sight to witness – the volume of the snarling and roaring was most impressive. It is hard to beat male lions snarling and roaring to get an impression of the power of these big cats.
