With a Wolf pack. We found the Wapiti Lake Pack of wolves near Biscuit Basin, in Yellowstone National Park. The wolves were arriving from several directions and they met in front of us. There was much excitement in the pack as they greeted each other. Several began howling as they interacted with each other. Steam from the nearby geysers blew across the scene and there were occasional flurries of snow blowing horizontally. What a fabulous experience being with a wolf pack in some challenging conditions.
Filming was a massive challenge. It was very cold and the wind was extremely strong. So much so that it nearly blew the camera and tripod over. The wind caused a lot of vibration which made focussing (manual) difficult and this was compounded by the snow and steam. Nevertheless, this was an exhilarating encounter in the interior of Yellowstone National Park.
