Wolf amidst the geysers and snow. We found the Wapiti Lake Pack of wolves near Biscuit Basin, in Yellowstone National Park USA. The wolves were arriving from several directions. This one was running through deep snow with the wind driving the snow and the steam from the near by geysers. Really wild weather! But seeing this wolf amidst the geysers and snow was a treat worth fighting the elements for.
It was a massive challenge. It was very cold and the wind was extremely strong. So much so that it nearly blew the camera and tripod over. The wind caused a lot of vibration which made focussing (manual) difficult and this was compounded by the snow and steam. Nevertheless, this was an exhilarating encounter in the interior of Yellowstone National Park.
