Black Bear fishing. Gunnuk Creek, Kake in South East Alaska is a very good place to see Black Bears fishing. The salmon were plentiful and the bears were very active. The bears were being selective with the fish they wanted. Their preference was to eat females because of the highly nutritious roe. This bear caught a female but in grabbing hold of the fish it caused the row to be ejected. It took the fish onto the bank ate part of it before carrying the remainder into the forest.
