Orca: killer whales of Alaska. Just outside Hoonah, South East Alaska, the call came – Orca! We were to watch these magnificent beasts for a long time. These resident Orca were clearly in hunting mode trying to catch the large number of salmon that were in the area. The activity was frenetic and it was hard to keep up with these vey mobile whales. Trying to predict where they would surface was a major challenge. Then right in front of us a female spy-hopped and her calf broke the surface beside her. What an amazing sight.
