A rare view of a Pangolin – Botswana 2015

We had been tracking three young lionesses for some time when they shot off into the tall grass. We followed and found them digging frantically at an Aardvark hole. Our guides told us that these particular lions specialised in digging Warthogs from these holes where they had gone for safety. Eventually the lions gave up and after they had left the scene we went to investigate what they had been trying to dig out. No Warthog but there was a Pangolin. We had joked with our various guides on each of our trips to Africa that our aspiration was to see a Pangolin. They just laughed at that prospect. But after innumerable trips to Africa we finally got our wish.
