Vultures take over an Impala carcass from cheetahs – Maasai Mara 2024

Vultures take over an Impala carcass from cheetahs. As the cheetah family were about to finish feasting on an Impala carcass, more than ninety African White-backed Vultures had gathered nearby. Our time with this cheetah family in the Naboisho Conservancy, Maasai Mara, Kenya, had been very special. The end of the encounter was just as entertaining! As he mother had moved away from the carcass, the vultures moved in closer. The remaining cubs could not resist trying to chase them away. What a sight! The sound of the beating wings was very special. As the last cub left the scene, the mass of vultures descended on the carcass and within seconds there was practically nothing left. Watching vultures take over an impala carcass from cheetahs had been a most impressive sight!
