Cape Buffalo at night. The night hides at Zimanga Private Game Reserve, South Africa, offer unique opportunities to get dramatic shots of a wide range of animals as they come to drink at the waterhole. A frequent visitor when we were there were the Cape buffalo. These huge animals come very close to the hide providing some interesting angles to shoot from. These rather dramatic views of these animals were taken over a few nights. The dark and textured skin of these animals works very well with the subtle lighting. The closeness of the Buffalo takes ones breath away the first time they appear as they tower over the hide and its occupants. An amazing experience!
