A big male lion early on a misty morning with lots of flying insects. The sun was just rising and there was a thick mist in Olare Motorogi Conservancy in Kenya’s Maasai Mara. We found this big male lion (known osupat) sitting among some bushes backlit and with huge numbers of insects (mostly probably termites ) flying around. The light changed so quickly from giving us a lovely golden light to suddenly becoming much flatter. Nevertheless, it was a most unusual and compelling scene. To see a big male lion early on a misty morning with lots of flying insects was a very nice way to start the day.
