Lioness after the storm. In the late afternoon the rain had been torrential in the Naboisho Conservancy, Maasai Mara, Kenya. We were beginning to dry out as was the wildlife. This lioness was enjoying the drier weather when we found her lying in the open. The other pride members were not far away but were still deep in the bushes. She began to get active, rolling around, yawning and finally, as a swallow swooped over her head, she called to her pride. They seemed reluctant to emerge from the bushes so she sat and bided her time. Watching this lioness after the storm had been a real treat!
